SERMON NOTES FOR SUNDAY, NOV 1, 2026 Prepare your heart for this Sunday’s morning message by reading the below Family Discipleship Plan, Discussion Questions & Action Steps, Sermon Slides & Songs. Family Study page 1 Thessalonians 2:1-16 November 1, 2026 UNTIL JESUS COMES – Every generation faces it’s own social, moral and political challenges. Instigators in every generation use the chaos to stir streams of rebellion and change. The scriptures reveal that the turmoil, confusion, and conflict will one day be overcome with the righteousness, peace, and joy in the Kingdom of God – when Jesus returns. How do Christians respond to our culture until the Lord returns to make things right. The short letter from the Apostle Paul to the people who have become followers of Jesus in the city of Thessalonica addresses the questions we are asking in our generation. How do I know if my beliefs in Jesus are true and valid? Why are things around me becoming more volatile toward Christian beliefs and value system? Will the Lord return soon? What happens to followers of Jesus when they die? How should I chart my course until Jesus returns? Hope in the Gospel of Jesus was birthed in Thessalonica through messengers with a distinct character. The motivations, and methods of their lives unlocked doors to HOPE in their hearers. Even in the face of challenges Paul and Silas modeled an authenticity, resolve, and compassion that was welcomed by seekers ready to listen and believe the message of the Gospel. When the messengers reflect the character and spirit of Jesus, the Savior comes triumphantly to the heart those who will receive Him. Discussion Questions and Action Steps for you and your family With your family or a group of friends, have a couple of people explain the principle of “return on investment”. Then ask a few people to tell some stories of ongoing investment in people that produced a valuable return? Read 1Thess. 2:1-20; and Romans 5:8. How do these scriptures reveal the motives of a Spiritual investor? What insight or phrase captured your attention? Why do you imagine that the Holy Spirit drew your attention there? What do you discover about God/Jesus? What do you discover about humans/yourself? According to these verses (1 Thess. 2:19-20) what will be one of your joys when Jesus returns? Have each person identify their “High 5” – five people they are praying will accept the Gospel of Jesus. Then have each person identify their “ONE” of those five who seems open to gospel investments by you. Pray for each other to be generous Gospel Investors in their “ONE” this week. I’ll Go Where You Want Me to Go - Carrie RounsefellClick To Watch Video It may not be on the mountain’s height, or over the stormy sea; It may not be at the battle’s front My Lord will have need of me; But if, by a still small voice, He calls to paths that I do not know, I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine, I’ll go where You want me to go. I’ll go where You want me to go, dear Lord, over mountain or plane or sea; I’ll say what You want me to say, dear Lord, I’ll be what You want me to be. Perhaps today there are loving words which Jesus would have me speak; There may be now in the paths of sin some wanderer whom I should seek; O Savior, if You will be my guide, though dark and rugged the way, My voice shall echo Your message sweet, I’ll say what You want me to say. There’s surely somewhere a lowly place, in earth’s harvest fields so wide, Where I may labor through life’s short day for Jesus, the crucified; So trusting my all into Your care, and knowing that You love me, I’ll do Your will with a heart sincere, I’ll be what you want me to be. “We were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. What happens to followers of Jesus when they die? How should I chart my course until Jesus returns? The missionary Apostle composes this encouraging letter to a fragile church. Discussion Questions and Action Steps for you and your family With your family or a group of friends, have each person identify if they tend to be a better “long-range planner” or a “make it work now” type of person. What insight or phrase captured your attention? Why do you imagine that the Holy Spirit drew your attention there? What do you discover about God/Jesus? What do you discover about humans/yourself? In what area of your life are you most likely to forget about Jesus’ return? Or you’re feeling more overwhelmed and defeated by the challenges that life is throwing your way. Or you’re spending more time scanning social media than you are connecting with God in prayer. Suddenly aware that doing things your way isn’t working out the way you thought it would. If you are putting additional effort to make your life better, trying to find a full connection with your purpose, but are getting reduced results, and becoming worn out trying. This Sermon series and corresponding study will help you find PURPOSE and CONTENTMENT through deep daily, ongoing connection in JESUS. It is extremely difficult to believe the difference between the two realities that Jesus describes in John 15 between futility and fruitfulness. Jesus teaches that “pruning” is part of that Abiding process. When difficult or painful circumstances come our way, we might think that God is punishing us for a wrong that we have done against him that hasn’t been forgiven. But the truth is that as God prunes us, He is treating us a loved sons and daughters. As He prunes something from us, He is giving something to us that is better by far! He make us abundantly more fruitful. Discussion Questions and Action Steps for you and your family With your family or a group of friends, identify a time in your life when something painful produced something really good. Discuss the ebb and flow of your confidence in the value of the pain and its end product. Read John 15:1-2, 18-21; and Luke 19:1-10. How do these stories reveal God’s purpose when painful things happen to us? What insight or phrase captured your attention? Why do you imagine that the Holy Spirit drew your attention there? What do you discover about God/Jesus? What do you discover about humans/yourself? When you think of God being the Gardener, does that make you happy… or nervous? Why? This Sermon series and corresponding study will help you find PURPOSE and CONTENTMENT through deep daily, ongoing connection in JESUS. So much of trusting and following Jesus seems backwards to what we think. To be great – be a servant. To save your life – you must lose it. To be filled with fruit – you must abide. The urge to focus on what we are producing and how to improve it, is shifted to an urge to connect to the vine. The story of Lazarus is a beautiful picture of the impact of a connected life. The Messiah calls you His friend! Discussion Questions and Action Steps for you and your family With your family or a group of friends, have people share about what “charts” they recall as a child that rewarded desired behavior. Who in their family was the best at excelling at the chart’s objectives? Read John 15:9-17; John 12:1-19. How do these stories reveal the desire of Jesus for us to pursue connection over production for God? What insight or phrase captured your attention? Why do you imagine that the Holy Spirit drew your attention there? What do you discover about God/Jesus? What do you discover about humans/yourself? What do you tend to put first – production for Jesus or connection with Him? If you are obsessed with production, what is holding you back from ABIDING in Him? SERMON NOTES FOR SUNDAY, AUG 30, 2026 Prepare your heart for this Sunday’s morning message by reading the below Family Discipleship Plan, Discussion Questions & Action Steps, Sermon Slides & Songs. Family Study page John 15:5; 2 Cor. 9:8-11 August 30, 2026 VITAL SIGN - There are moments, by God’s grace, when the chaotic pace of life suddenly pauses. A rare moment of sanity and awareness breaks through the noise and the schedule. For a moment you can see the fog that surrounds you. Suddenly, a fresh barrage of questions enter your mind. “What am I doing?” “How did I get here?” “Is all of this activity moving me, my marriage, our family, where we intended?” “How do I get out from under the “good things” that have dog-piled on me so I can catch my breath?” Life’s moments, decisions, and obligations are not something you can just put on “auto pilot”. Either you are managing the various elements of your life, or they are controlling you. Suddenly you realize that your “self-driving-life” has put you in the back seat, and is taking you in a direction you do not want to go. In that moment, what vital sign do you check to assess your health and identify your critical next steps. In the hours just before He would be arrested, beaten, and nailed to a wooden crossbeam, Jesus identified a critical assessment for human life. Three statements, only 31 words, provide our assessment of a critical vital sign for life- “how is your RELATIONSHIP with Jesus”. For centuries since that evening conversation, disciples of Jesus across the globe have found healing clarity and a pathway to a life of thriving fruitfulness in this assessment. Today, Jesus’ words will diagnose the symptoms of disillusionment, disconnection, and disappointment that are resulting in your failure to thrive. Discussion Questions and Action Steps for you and your family With your family or a group of friends, try to identify something that is completely self-sufficient and can thrive completely independent of any other object. When have you wanted to live self-sufficiently? Read John 15:5-8 and Acts 17:24-25. What do you learn about God’s important provision for you to experience a thriving life? What insight or phrase captured your attention? Why do you imagine that the Holy Spirit drew your attention there? What do you discover about God/Jesus? What do you discover about humans/yourself? In what areas of your life are you trying to live independent of God’s provision and guidance? How can the family of God help you recover from your fierce self-sufficiency? Share your insights with someone this week! SERMON NOTES FOR SUNDAY, AUG 23, 2026 Prepare your heart for this Sunday’s morning message by reading the below Family Discipleship Plan, Discussion Questions & Action Steps, Sermon Slides & Songs. Family Study page John 15:5; Haggai 1:5-6 August 23, 2026 VITAL SIGN - There are moments, by God’s grace, when the chaotic pace of life suddenly pauses. Three statements, only 31 words, provide our assessment of a critical vital sign for life - “how is your connection with Jesus. For centuries since that evening conversation, disciples of Jesus across the globe have found healing clarity and a pathway to a life of thriving fruitfulness. Today, Jesus’ words will diagnose the symptoms of disillusionment, disconnection, and disappointment that are resulting in your failure to thrive. Discussion Questions and Action Steps for you and your family With your family or a group of friends, have one person tell a story of having only half attention to a task. What frequently is your current cause of distraction. Read John 15:1-5 and 2 Kings 17:33. What do you learn about God’s desire to have an essential and exclusive relationship with you? What insight or phrase captured your attention? Why do you imagine that the Holy Spirit drew your attention there? What do you discover about God/Jesus? What do you discover about humans/yourself? How would you rate the status of your current connection as a branch to the Vine/Jesus? What happened to your connection with Jeus that most impacted the quality of your fruit? SERMON NOTES FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 2, 2026 Prepare your heart for this Sunday’s morning message by reading the below Family Discipleship Plan, Discussion Questions & Action Steps, Sermon Slides & Songs. Family Study page Acts 13:1-3 August 2, 2026 VISIONS & DREAMS - Ushered into new movements of God. An Old Testament prophecy of Joel (Joel 2) spoke a message of HOPE to a beleaguered remnant of people in Jerusalem. Things didn’t look good after the invasion of Judah by Babylon and the exile of Jerusalem’s leadership and prominent citizens to the region of Babylon (current country of Iraq). It seemed like the Glory was gone. The consequences of years of sinfulness and His words fuel a fire of anticipation for a movement of God that would usher in a new day of ordinary people who are receiving Visons and Dreams for repentance and revival as God begins a new thing. It seems that God often begins new seasons of life and purpose for his people through an eruption of Visions and Dreams that reveal sin, call for repentance, spark hope, unites people, and inspires new stewardship of resources for what God is preparing to do. As Kingsway Christian Church prepares for a celebration of it’s 40th Anniversary, it is appropriate that we recall the Visions and Dreams that God was stirring 40 years ago. In the hearts and minds of some extraordinary people, God moved to rally and commit themselves to a courageous and new spiritual movement in West Omaha. This series will celebrate the Visions and Dreams that God was stirring in the Charter members 40+ years ago. Over these weeks we will assess what God has done over the 40 years past, and stir within us fresh VISIONS & DREAMS for the new things He wants to do through you and Kingsway. Discussion Questions and Action Steps for you and your family With your family or a group of friends, talk about why people try so many other solutions to their troubles, rather than calling on the Lord? What do you discover about God/Jesus? What do you discover about humans/yourself? How does Acts 13:1-3 fulfill events that that were predicted in Joel 2? How are you responding to God’s revelation in the Bible? Where do you sense the Lord calling you to dream a dream or invest in a vision of His design? Navigating a Broken World - October 26th
Navigating a Broken World: Choosing Friends This week’s Brite lesson (1 Samuel 20) is about David and Jonathan and the kind of friendship they had. Kids will see what it looks like to care about someone, stick with them and help each other follow God. Friendships can be tricky at this age. Some kids are still trying to find their people, and others are dealing with friendships that don’t feel great. This week, we’re talking about what a good friend looks like. Someone who is kind, honest and helps you make good choices. Take a few minutes this week to check in on your kid’s friendships. Ask who they like being around and how those friendships feel. It’s a simple way to help them think about the kind of friend they want to be and the kind of friends they want to have. Here’s how you can discuss it at home: Discuss: Share about how you met your best friend. Discuss: What are some characteristics of true friends? Discuss: What does God have to say about that? Say: Friendships are very important and are a gift from God. We can all think of friends who have helped us in many ways. But you can likely also think of friends you have had who have gotten you into trouble. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says: Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” In other words, if we spend a lot of time with people who aren’t living like God wants them to, we are likely to end up not making great choices as well. Our friends influence us a lot, so it is important that we spend time with people who help our relationship with God. It is hard enough to follow God’s plan in our lives. Imagine how much easier it would be if you had a friend group who encouraged that? Show love to all people, but be picky in who your closest friends are.

Navigating A Broken World - October 19th
Navigating a Broken World: Foster Care This week’s Brite lesson (1 Samuel 1–3) includes a moment that might feel a little confusing at first. Kids will hear how Hannah brought her son Samuel to live and serve at the temple as a way of keeping a promise she made to God. It’s a story that shows both her deep love for God and her deep love for her son. For some kids, this may connect to their own story, especially those who are in foster care or living with someone other than their parents. That can come with a lot of questions and emotions. This week, we’re reminding kids that no matter what their story looks like, God sees them, cares about them and stays with them. If this comes up at home, give your kids space to talk and ask questions. You can remind them that they are deeply loved and that God is with them in every part of their story. Here’s how you can discuss it at home: Discuss: What did you think about Hannah leaving Samuel to grow up in the temple? Discuss: Are there situations where kids live with people who aren’t their parents? Say: Sometimes kids live with other family members. Sometimes kids live in foster care, which means they live with another family because there is a reason they cannot live with their own. Discuss: What do you think God has to say about that? Say: God loves when families grow by including others. Psalm 68:6 says: God settles the solitary in a home. In other words, God puts those who are alone in families. Sometimes, kids end up alone because their parents are sick or going through a really tough time. God shows He cares by providing love during that really hard time. There were probably times when it was hard for Samuel to grow up in the temple instead of in his parents’ house. But God used the place where Samuel was to call him and to prepare him to be the prophet of Israel. God cares about every kid and is with every kid, no matter their situation. He can use the really hard things we go through in His plan for our lives.

Navigating A Broken World - October 5th
Navigating a Broken World: Divorce This week’s Brite lesson (Joshua 10, 13) focuses on an important truth—God always does what He says. In our Bible story, kids are learning that God can be trusted because He never breaks His promises. We know this can feel like a difficult topic for some kids, especially those whose families have been impacted by divorce. When life changes like that, it can leave kids wondering who they can really count on. This week, we’re reminding them that even when people don’t always keep their word, God does. Every time. As a family, take a moment to talk about one of God’s promises in Scripture and what it means in your life right now. Remind your kids that God sees their hurt, cares deeply about what they’re feeling and will always be with them, no matter what changes around them. Here’s how we discussed this topic and how you can discuss it at home: Discuss: What are some important promises that adults make? Discuss: What happens when adults who are married to each other don’t keep their promise to stay married? Discuss: What do you think God has to say about that? Say: God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman forever. But even after a husband and wife promise to stay married forever, they sometimes don’t. Some families go through a divorce, which is very hard for everyone. The Bible tells us that God doesn’t like divorce. He knows how much it hurts the whole family. But He always loves the people who are involved with the divorce. Some of you may have parents who are divorced, and you know how hard it can be. Our world is broken by sin. Moms and dads are human and make mistakes. Sometimes the adults we love don’t keep their promises. That hurts. We can turn to God and talk to Him about our hurt. We can also trust that He will always be there for us and always keeps every promise. Psalm 46:1 reminds us: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

October Monthly Overview
What’s Coming This Sunday: Brite Idea: God does what He says. The Israelites, led by Joshua, conquered Canaanite cities as God had promised. When several kings attacked a city named Gibeon, Joshua came to help. God told him not to fear and promised victory. Joshua prayed for the sun to stand still, and God answered, giving them more time to fight. The Israelites defeated their enemies, conquered more land, and Joshua divided it among the twelve tribes. The Promised Land became theirs, just as God said. Throughout the Old Testament, God promised hundreds of times that He would send a Rescuer who would save the people from their sin. God kept His promise by sending Jesus, a descendant of Abraham, to Earth to die on the cross for our sins. God promises that when we trust in Jesus for forgiveness of our sins, we will live forever with Him. He always does what He says. Online Church Directory
Connecting Through Our Online Photo Directory This summer, we published our pictorial directory, and now we’re excited to offer an online version! Our online photo directory makes it easier to connect names with faces, get to know one another, and remember the people who make Kingsway such a special church family. Our core value of CONNECT reminds us that relationships are an important part of growing together in Christ. Whether you’re learning someone’s name for the first time or looking up a familiar face, the directory is a helpful tool for building relationships and strengthening our church community. The online directory also allows you to update your own contact information and add or change your picture. If you weren’t available when pictures were taken this summer, you can add your photo now! Your information is secure, and no one can access the directory unless they have been approved by the church office. Ready to get connected? Email the church office for instructions on how to sign in and start using the online directory. As Hebrews 10:24–25 reminds us, we are to “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” and encourage one another. Let’s use this tool to stay connected, encourage one another, and continue growing together as a church family!Email Church Office
